Our History
SFCU was chartered on January 9, 1956, as the Bay City Public School Employees Credit Union. During February of 1959, the corporate name was changed to Bay County School Employees Credit Union, when all public and private school employees were inducted into our membership. Our field of membership grew once again in 1963, when Arenac County schools were added, and our name was changed to School Employees Credit Union. Our current name of Sunrise Family Credit Union was adopted in October 1999 when we became a community charter.
