VISA Gift Cards

The perfect gift for any occasion.

The SFCU Visa Gift Card is a prepaid debit card that’s great for gift-giving. It’s perfect for birthdays, holidays, weddings, graduations or any occasion. The card provides more flexibility than a gift certificate. You may choose an amount between $25 and $1,000, plus an additional $3.00 service fee. The recipient can choose where to go and what to buy. It’s that simple.

Effective October 3, 2016, Cardholders will no longer be able to use gift cards for international purchases. This means the gift cards can be used only for purchases in the United States.

Does this change affect cardholders who have already purchased a gift card from our institution?

Yes. If a cardholder uses a gift card for an international transaction after October 3, 2016, the transaction will be declined. All transactions made in the U.S. will process as usual.

Your gift card can be used to make purchases anywhere Visa® Debit cards are accepted in the United States. Visit www.HarlandClarkegiftcard.com for full Terms and Conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions About Gift Cards

Where can Gift Cards be used?
The advantage of Gift Cards is that – unlike merchant –specific cards – they can be used to make purchases anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. You can use a Gift Card at literally thousands of retail, restaurant and entertainment locations throughout the U.S. – as well as online. After October 3, 2016 gift cards can no longer be used internationally.

Are Gift Cards the same as credit cards?
No. Gift cards are prepaid Visa cards that carry a fixed cash amount determined by the Gift Card purchaser. Each time you use the card, the purchase amount is deducted from the available balance.

Can Gift Cards be reloaded?
Individual cards cannot be “reloaded”, but you always have the option to purchase additional Gift Cards – for yourself or for someone special in your life.

Can a merchant give cash back on a Gift Card?
Merchants can deduct purchase from Gift Card accounts, but they cannot offer cash back as part of the Gift Card service.

Do Gift Cards have expiration dates?
Yes, Gift Cards expire when the remaining balance reaches $0 or on the expiration date shown on the front of the card. A small monthly $2.40 service fee is waived for the first six months, and then is deducted from card balances the first of the month (at the beginning in month seven) until the balance is $0 or the card expires.
